Charles McCarter
When entering our office, you
might hear a very cheerful male voice that could bring a smile to even
the grumpiest curmudgeon. That voice belongs to Charles C. McCarter,
McCarter & Greenley, LLC's Managing Partner. Along with brightening
the day of those he meets, McCarter has an uncanny knack for making
complex legal concepts understandable.
Previously, McCarter was Managing Partner of Gage & Tucker's (now
Lathrop & Gage's) St. Louis office and a partner in Husch &
Eppenberger, both multi-state law firms. In those firms, he carried on
a comprehensive practice in estate and financial planning, business
law, tax law, real estate law and administrative law. He also
maintained a litigation and appellate law practice.
He has served as a Professor of Law at Stetson University College of
Law and at the University of Tulsa College of Law. Additionally, he has
held several state and federal political offices. He is on the boards
of the Salvation Army and KETC Channel 9.
McCarter has participated in cases heard by the United States Supreme
Court, United States Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court. He
has also served as a Securities Hearing Examiner and as an expert
witness.
McCarter co-authored The Missouri Lawyer's Guide, a two-volume work
covering both federal and state law. He has also authored numerous
professional articles and has addressed many seminars.
He received a Juris Doctorate degree from Washburn University, and a
Master of Laws degree from Yale Law School. During his teaching tenure,
he was a Visiting Scholar at Yale Law School. For a number of years, he
has been a biographee in Who's Who in America.
McCarter is a member of the American Bar Association and its Business
Law and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law sections, Missouri and
Kansas Bar Associations and the St. Louis Estate Planning Council.
McCarter is our office team's leading tennis player.
